Privacy Policy

Sift processes the visible Gmail row data that it needs to sort, group, and filter your current view. This processing happens only on your device. Sift does not transmit this data to the developer or to any third party. There is no Sift account, analytics, server, or telemetry.
What Sift does with your email
Sift reads the list of emails that Gmail has already drawn on screen — sender, subject, date, read state, and label names — so it can reorder and group those rows. This happens entirely in the browser tab you have open. Sift does not open, read the body of, send, delete, or modify any email.
None of that information is stored, transmitted, or shared. It exists only for as long as it takes to sort the rows in front of you.
What Sift stores
Sift saves your display preferences — the sort field you last chose,
the sort direction, and whether grouping was on — using Chrome's
storage.local API. That data stays on your own computer,
is never synced anywhere, and contains no email content. Uninstalling
the extension removes it.
What Sift sends
Nothing. Sift makes no network requests. It has no backend, contacts no
third party, and includes no analytics, telemetry, advertising, or
crash-reporting code. You can confirm this yourself: the source is
public, and there is no fetch, XMLHttpRequest,
or remote script anywhere in it.
The quick-filter buttons navigate your own Gmail tab to a Gmail search — the same thing as typing that search into Gmail yourself. No request goes anywhere except to Google, from you, as it already would.
Permissions, and why each one exists

host_permissions: https://mail.google.com/*— lets Sift run on Gmail and reorder the rows on the page. Sift runs on no other site.
Data sold or shared with third parties
None. Sift handles visible Gmail row data only on your device and does not sell, transfer, disclose, or make it available to the developer or any third party.
Children
Sift is a display tool. It does not transmit personal information to the developer or any third party.
Changes to this policy
If Sift ever changes in a way that affects this policy, the change will be published here with an updated date, and the change will be visible in the public commit history.
